Shrimant Maharaj Vijaysinhraje Bhosle was born on 13th December 1915 in Pune. His birth brought joy to everyone, resonating through the Nagara beats. At the tender age of 8, he faced the tragic loss of his father. Shrimant Maharaj Vijaysinhraje ascended the throne on 3rd April 1923.As he was young, his revered mother, Shrimant Rajmata Tarabairaje, efficiently ruled the state as a regent from 1923 to 1932. For this, the British government bestowed upon her the title of ‘Kaisar-e-Hind’

Adoption and ascension to the Gadi

On 13th February 1934, Maharaja Shrimant Vijaysinh married Shrimant Rajkumari Kamaldevi Sindhiya, the princess of Gwalior. Maharaja Vijaysinh's second marriage took place in April 1942 with Shrimant Rajkumari Nirmalaraje, Granddaughter of His Highness Maharaj Sayajirao Gaekwad of Baroda, at the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai. Shrimant Vijaysinh Maharaj's coronation took place on August 5, 1937.

Maharaja’s views on the Dalit community were progressive. Before the coronation, he allocated funds for social equality and welcomed Dalit representatives and offered a seat of honor to them in his court. Through his actions, he conveyed that there was no discrimination in his realm. By fostering social reform and ensuring equal status in his court, Shrimant Rajasaheb Vijaysinhraje emerged as a leader committed to bridging the gap between the king and the people, emphasizing the crucial need for their connected relationship.

Shrimant Maharaj Fatehsinhraje III collected various types of mythological and modern weapons and made an armoury and added it to the knowledge of the people. Shrimant Rajasaheb Vijaysinhraje took good care of that armoury. He liked hunting and he added taxidermies of personally hunted wild animals such as tigers, lions, leopards, rhinoceros, red deer, wild boars, bears, deer, and sambars, creating a armoury museum with fauna. This armoury was recognized as the first of its kind in India. Even today, the present armoury holds a prominent position in the new royal palace.

Shri Shahaji High School which belonged to Shrimant Maharaj Vijaysinhraje, was a leading educational institution. He, during the institution's expansion, generously donated the building along with valuable literature to the Maratha Temple Education League. Even today, the Maratha Temple operates the Shri Shahaji High School in Mumbai, excelling in the educational sector. Upholding the institution's tradition, it is recognized as an exemplary school in the district, providing excellent education.

From 1951, Vijaysinh Rajesaheb's health deteriorated due to a liver ailment. He passed away on April 10, 1952, at the young age of 37.
